SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL

Children in our community are our future. Education is very important for a healthy society. However, our school children don't feel safe going to school, and most of them are being driven by their parents causing traffic congestion and potential safety issues right before and after school hours. The lack of safe routes to school creates coordination issues between the school district, the municipalities and Broward County. I will work with the traffic engineering division to develop safe routes to school at all three levels for all students in Broward County. These plans will clearly identify the paths that students should take when walking, biking or even driving to school. The plans will developed in coordination with first responders, school staff and the County.
