Issues

We love what we have in Southwest Broward from Miramar to Weston. I will work hard to preserve and enhance our quality of life. This means street improvements to address traffic congestion without encouraging more development, and applying right technologies to improve recycling, smart infrastructure and better county services. We must preserve our Quality of Life.

We live in well planned communities. During inception in the early 1990s, the developers and cities took measures to provide proper infrastructure for our communities. However, we are still using tools and assumptions from the 1990s to make decisions on new developments resulting in deficiencies in infrastructure. We need to update our planning.

Miramar, Pembroke Pines, Davie, Southwest Ranches and Weston neighborhoods are beautiful to the eyes with clear blue skies, beautiful lakes, green landscaping and natural life sounds and sights. Mountains made of trash or incinerators threaten our neighborhoods. We must reduce our solid waste generation, we must recycle and we must dispose our waste in a proper manner.

We enjoy our neighborhoods but housing costs have increased due to recent inflation and migration to Florida. This resulted in a housing affordability crisis for our employees, and young families just entering the workforce. I will work on Housing Access solutions that meet needs without replicating L.A. or San Francisco affordable housing policies and negative effects on society.

We feel safe in our district and value the safety of our residential communities and activity centers. I will fight to preserve the rule of law in Broward County supporting the Sheriff and the court systems. I will watch for our airport, Port Everglades and county facilities to have the best security possible. I will work to have safe routes to school for our children.

We receive the basic services from the County and municipalities and we appreciate our self governance through HOA, condo associations or in our association free communities. My commitment is for the county to develop a culture based on education, engineering and implementation that meets the actual needs of the community in an efficient and effective manner.

We celebrate our leisure time with our families and value our pastimes. Whether it is soccer, tennis, fishing, kite flying, frisbee, you name it, we do it in Broward County. We enjoy Town Center, Pembroke Gardens and the County Parks. My commitment is to keep on excelling in providing the opportunities to all, while enhancing the experience.
